Hey there wonderful backers!

I got some great news this morning! The printers have officially shipped books to me and they'll be in my hands early next week, which means I can start shipping early next week! Huzzah! Digital rewards will be delivered on Monday :D

And what great timing, since I'll be launching another campaign next week. If you're interested in checking out the brand new super shiny trade paperback version of Sacrimony #1-5, you can follow the campaign here!

Thanks so much for your support! I look forward to sending your books out ASAP!

Surveys are being sent out!
about 1 year ago – Wed, Mar 01, 2023 at 08:07:32 AM

Hello there, wonderful backers!

Just letting you know that backer surveys are being sent out soon. Keep an eye on your email over the next 2 days, as they're going out little by little. You have until March 17 to fill yours out if you want your name to appear in the Thank You section of the pdf. Any names entered after that won't make the cut, as it would slow down production to wait on any stragglers.

All in all, everything seems to be on track. I'm hoping to receive all books and merch by the end of March and start shipping in the beginning of April. In the meanwhile, I'll be keeping my fingers and toes crossed.

Thanks so much for your support!

We've made it!
about 1 year ago – Sat, Feb 25, 2023 at 09:06:35 AM

Hey there, wonderful backers!

It's been a really fun campaign, we're funded and I'm ready to make some good stuff happen.

It's always risky to start a new series after 2 years of running another successful series. It's especially scary when the new series is nothing like the established one that people already know. I honestly had no idea how Buddy and Friend was going to perform or how the story or art would be received, since it's so much different from Sacrimony.

But that's just how I roll. If I somehow managed to find the time to come out with a third series, it'd look and feel nothing like Sacrimony OR Buddy and Friend.

I don't like doing the same thing over and over, telling the same stories over and over and drawing in the same style over and over. I've always been a bit of a mad scientist when it comes to art and writing. I like to do different things, explore different stories and different concepts and experiment and challenge myself, because at the end of the day, that's where the fun is.

I've never been the kind of person who cared about things like "finding a personal brand" and sticking with that. As with Sacrimony, I'm always going to choose doing something I enjoy over something that others tell me is "marketable." Does it mean I'm just going to be making weird niche comics for the rest of my life? Yeah probably, but at least I'll be having a great time doing it.

If you're a long-time Sacrimony reader who decided to check out Buddy and Friend, I really appreciate you giving it a chance! If you're someone who's only just now heard of me, thanks so much for jumping on in and I hope you stick around for the long haul.

So what happens now?

Kickstarter is going to take 2 weeks to process payments and then release the funds to me so I can get the ball rolling. By the end of next week, I'll be sending out surveys. Please have them filled out by March 18, if you want your name to be added into the Thank You section of the pdfs.

I'll be ordering everything I need to fulfill the campaign by March 14, and it should all be in my hands and ready to be shipped out by mid to late April. I'm aiming to wrap up the entire campaign by the end of May, at latest.

I'll be posting a new update every week or two to let you know how things are going. But for the meanwhile, I'm going to take a well-earned nap.

Again, thanks so much for helping bring Buddy and Friend into the world! I can't wait for you to read it!

Have a great weekend!

Bonus sticker reveal!
about 1 year ago – Thu, Feb 23, 2023 at 10:41:18 AM

Hey there, wonderful backers!

As I write this, we're just $11 away from unlocking a bonus sticker for all physical backers. We've safely crossed the $2900 mark so, as promised, here's the design!

Yep, that's right! All physical backers will get a lil' Buddy to join them on their daily adventures!

We're in the last 30 something hours of the campaign, which is super exciting. Things will be picking up soon and I'll unveil the last set of stretch goals and milestones tomorrow morning.

Thanks so much for helping bring this story to life! I know I always say this, but I mean it from the bottom of the void where my heart should be: You're the real MVPs. If not for you, my stories would simply not exist. If a comic is made in the woods and nobody's around to enjoy it, does it really make a sound? Heck no.

So to all of you who have given me the freedom to take this crazy risk and try my hand at publishing a new series, I appreciate you so so much.

Here's hoping we have a super, strong amazing finish!

We've done it!
about 1 year ago – Tue, Feb 21, 2023 at 03:27:41 PM

Hey there wonderful backers!

As of yesterday, The Misadventures of Buddy and Friend #1+2 is FUNDED!

Thank you all so much for believing in this wacky lil' comic. It really means the world to me and I'm so excited that I get to bring another series into the world. I'm honestly pretty speechless at the moment. Which is.. unlike me, since those who know me know I'm always the opposite of speechless.

Anyway, let's get onto the FUN part of funded!

We've got three days left to go and there are lots of stretch goals and milestones to be unlocked! We're super close to the 100 backer mark, which means we're close to unlocking the desktop wallpaper and at 125 backers, all backers get a free audio commentary about the creation of Buddy and Friend 1+2.

We're also just $109 away from revealing what the bonus sticker design will be! Once we cross the $3000 mark, I'll reveal the next set of stretch goals.

Thank you so much for your support! Here's hoping we get a super strong finish in the last 3 days of the campaign!

Also, here's another cool comic to check out!

Beowulf #1-5: Adventure that spans centuries

The dragon slayer from myth, reincarnated as a 30-something slacker. His sidekicks are a magic cat and a thirteen-year old girl.

Hazel, a pre-teen girl living in suburbia, is having a typical, boring evening when she’s startled by the premonition of a dragon awakening  from a centuries long nap. As surprised as she is by the vision, she’s absolutely shocked when her cat, Mooney, opens his mouth and tells her that he too had the same premonition.

Mooney knows of only one man brave and mighty enough to go toe to toe with a dragon, the mighty warrior, Beowulf. Unfortunately, he's been reincarnated as Victor, an unemployed millennial slacker who can't even get his life together much less slay a dragon.

I love this take on Beowulf. Like, sure, people have gone for dramatic retellings of the classic Beowulf story over and over, but I'll take a silly one any day!
